Iran Sends 4th Aid Cargo to Pakistan

Iran’s Red Crescent Society (IRCS) sent the fourth shipment of humanitarian aid including food and tents for the victims of the heavy flooding in the neighboring Muslim country.

“The fourth IRCS aid shipment for the flood victims consists of ۸۰۰ tents, ۱۵,۰۰۰ cans of food and bread and weighs about ۴۰ tons,” Fars News Agency quoted the head of the IRCS international affairs department Shahabeddin Mohammadi Araqi as saying Saturday.

According to the Pakistani government’s disaster management agency, the worst floods in the country’s history have affected nearly ۱۵ million people.

The deluge has so far killed more than ۱,۶۰۰ people and forced two million others to flee their homes.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon issued an urgent plea for donors to come forward with generous support at this difficult time for Pakistan.
