Addressing Friday prayer worshipers, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that today, Iran and its Islamic system are influential and it greatly matters whether Iran says ‘yes’, or ‘no’ to something in international issues.
Imam Khamenei led Friday prayers at Tehran University Campus on Friday, February 3.
Referring to the Ten-day Dawn (celebrating the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory), he said this year the occasion is celebrated in a different atmosphere as popular revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya have achieved victory and great steps have been taken, which is good news for the Iranian nation.
Imam Khamenei further said that the Islamic Revolution removed an anti-Islam regime and replaced it with an Islamic system of government. "It replaced a tyrannical and despotic regime with a religious democratic system.”
He stressed that the Islamic Revolution gave freedom to the people of the country so that they can freely present their views and their votes, and that it gave Iran national dignity.
The Supreme Leader highlighted the many accomplishments and progresses made in recent decades following the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said in this period there have also been some weaknesses which should be recognized and dealt with.
He said that there have been ups and downs but the movement has continued and that is what matters, adding that none of the challenges could make the Iranian nation go down on their knees. "We will continue on our path steadfastly,” he stressed.
