Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei called all sides in Syria to cooperate with the UN observer mission and supporting it.

In a press conference on Monday, Hong Lei said that China has learned that head of the observer mission Gen. Robert Mood has suspended the patrols carried out by the 300-member mission on Saturday due to the escalating violence in areas seeing troubles.

He said that China urges all sides in Syria to commit seriously to the cessation of violence, guaranteeing the safety of the mission, and fully commitment to the six-point plan of UN Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan.
