An Iraqi Sunni cleric won international Peace Prize of the year 2012 for his efforts in maintaining peace.
Sheikh Khaled Abdul Wahhab al-Mulla, head of Iraq’s Council of Sunni Scholars was awarded international peace prize for his efforts to prevail peace in his war-torn country of Iraq.
The bureau of Iraq’s Council for Sunni Scholars announced Britain’s House of Lords has nominated Sheikh Khaled Abdul Wahhab al-Mulla because of his efforts to boost peace in Iraq. This bureau also announced that the annual award is presented to the most active person in the field of peace.
This is while the Iraqi scholar was praised due to his efforts for maintaining moderation, respecting other religions, defending human rights and also the influential role he played in national peace.
Sheikh Khaled Abdul Wahhab al-Mulla is due to receive his award in the House of Lords in Britain.
