Israeli police have arrested more than two dozen suspected pedophiles, including regime and military officials, who attempted to seduce children into sexual contact.

About 30 individuals were arrested on Tuesday, in a pre-dawn operation codenamed "computerized interception,” and brought to the magistrate’s court in Ramle to await further proceedings.

The suspects were lured in by an undercover female police officer who assumed the online ID of a 12-year-old girl as part of the three-month operation.

Those arrested roamed chartrooms in search of victims and encouraged children into sexual contacts on the internet, initiating meetings with the minors.

Investigators were able to document some of the suspects performing indecent acts in front of webcams. The detained were among the 50 suspects identified in the operation and range from 35 to 56 in age, among them married men with children.
