Turkey has heightened its military drill near the border with Syria, deploying more troops along the border following a day of tank exercises in the area.

The
Turkish army on Wednesday staged tank exercises near its border with Syria days
after it reinforced its border troops with tanks, missile launchers and armored
combat vehicles.
Some 25 tanks reportedly took part in the exercises in the Nusaybin district of
Mardin Province, just two kilometers away from the Syrian border, on Wednesday.
The Associated Press, meanwhile, said several Turkish tanks were also deployed
at Kilis province, which sits along the 910 kilometers of frontier shared
between the two neighbors.
